A gorgeous custom skinner in the unmistakable style of
Knifemakers Guild Member, Ed Kalfayan.
It is most unfortunate indeed that Mr. Kalfayan is retired and no longer
making custom knives at this point,
which is the main reason that I'm holding on to this one that I purchased
back in 2001 - That and because I really like it!
Voting Knifemakers Guild member, Ed Kalfayan made mainly fixed blade
custom knives - Skinners, Subhilt Fighting Knives, and the infamous and
tremendous "Arkansas Toothpick."
This Custom Skinner by Ed happens to be in my favorite colors as well.
The thick mirror polished file work entwined with the red spacers is
Mr. Kalfayan's trademark.
The handle is made from polished buffalo horn and brass mosiac pins bring
everything together to make one really cool looking custom knife.
Note: While I recently discovored that Ed is making knives here and there at present, he is not producing models like his originals, incorporating filework, etc. This knife is a great example of the work Ed did in his prime and is unavailable practically anywhere else.
